HOW WE ARE PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT

As a leading global manufacturer, we’re committed to managing our environmental performance and reducing our impacts. By 2025, we aim to reduce the carbon intensity of our operations by 15%, compared to our 2017 baseline.

As part of that, having good carbon accounting matters. That's where the 3 Scopes* from the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol come into play - to help us better break down our carbon footprint and help us understand where and how to focus our efforts to reduce emissions.

Last year, we made notable progress on our climate strategy by measuring our 2021 indirect value chain (Scope 3) GHG emissions for the first time. We also better managed our Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions by increasing our use of renewable electricity and implementing energy efficiency and conservation projects.

*The GHG Protocol classifies a company's GHG emissions into 3 Scopes. Scope 1 emissions are direct emissions from owned or controlled sources; Scope 2 emissions are indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy; Scope 3 emissions are indirect emissions that occur in the value chain of the company, including both upstream and downstream emissions.
